Derek L. Calhoun

Bishop Derek L. Calhoun is an author, educator, entrepreneur, mentor, podcaster and executive strategist for individuals, churches, schools, and businesses alike. He has a passion for the advancement of the Kingdom of God through a proper understanding of a Biblical worldview for ministry and the marketplace.  Bishop Calhoun can be heard nationally and internationally on the Kingdom Influencing Podcast on Amazon, Apple, Audible, Google, Podbean, Spotify and other major platforms on demand. He is a highly regarded as a motivator of national and international audiences. His background scans the diversity of over 35 years of work in education, government, law, ministry, business development and consulting respectively. He is the former Dean of Students at The Potter’s House Christian Academy High School in Jacksonville, Florida. Currently, He is consultant doing work in the areas of educational leadership and administration. He just released his first major work “Press into the Power, A Journey to Healing and Breakthrough”. The companion workbook will be released this winter. Bishop Calhoun earned a Bachelor of Arts from Howard University and a master’s in divinity from the Howard University School of Divinity, where he was mentored by the late Dr. Cain Hope Felder. He graduated from the Divinity School as one of the top three students in his class. His ministry career started in 1984 as a licensed minister, at the Faith Bible Church in Washington, DC under the pastoral supervision of the late Bishop Dr. Lewis T. Tait, Sr. He would later be ordained in the Baptist Church by the late Dr. Joseph A. Gilmore, Sr. after being catechized by the late Dr. Charles Green, Past President of the Hampton Ministers Conference. Bishop Calhoun then served as the Senior Pastor of the Grace Baptist Church in Norwalk, CT. for four years. In 1998, he met Bishop Vaughn M. McLaughlin, the presiding Prelate of Covenant Fellowship International. Together, they co-founded New Vision International Ministries, where he served as Senior Pastor for sixteen years. He is currently, the Overseer of New Vision International Ministries located in Bridgeport, CT. Bishop Calhoun is an influencer and a leader of leaders in ministry and the marketplace. He is a trendsetter, whose purpose is to influence the next generation of leaders. One of his frequent quotes is “Don’t think outside the box; but think as if there is no box!” Bishop Calhoun resides in Baltimore, Md. with his wife and ministry partner of over thirty-four (34) years Sharron L. Calhoun. He has four daughters and three grandchildren.
